Attorney Marta V. Canossa, born in Costa Rica, completed high school in her native country and then started her studies in the United States.  In May of 2002 she graduated  from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration she concentrated her studies in computer information systems and political sciences.

In May of 2005, she obtained her Common Law Juris Doctorate with a Certificate in International Legal Studies and a Certificate in Civil Law from Loyola University New Orleans.  During her studies she was the recipient of several scholarships that funded most of her education.  She is now an active member of the Mississippi State Bar, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

While completing her years of higher education in the Jesuit tradition, she was compelled to strive for social justice and to make a difference in the world.  Since her first year in law school, she felt passionate about immigrants in the United States and their need.

She was a student volunteer for the New Orleans branch of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), and served as a student attorney in the Loyola Law Clinic, representing immigrant detainees before the New Orleans Immigration Court and the Oakdale Immigration Court.

She is a close friend of the Salvadoran Association of Los Angeles (ASOSAL,) dedicating several hours per week of pro bono work to serve the Central American Community.  She also takes a generous load of Immigration Court cases on a pro bono basis for immigrants in need.

Since the year 2006 she has worked hard to build a reputable private practice in the area of immigration law.  Her firm has represented hundreds of clients before the Immigration Service and the Los Angeles Immigration Court.
